The Avionics crew has been working hard and is nearing the end of the design phase for the upgraded system for the launch of Galactic Aztec Mk II. We've consolidated our components into a new location, dubbed the Abox, which will serve effectively as the 'brains' of the rocket. All data acquisition and telemetry will feed into and from this centralized hub, to be broadcasted down to ground control during flight. We have also forayed into our own PCB design and fabrication for the first time as a team! The first board will be a simple power distribution board, but the design and fabrication process, done through the EE department at SDSU, will of course give insight into how to move towards designing our own embedded systems for future projects. It has become apparent that embedded systems are the most optimal, as opposed to off the shelf components; this is an exciting direction for us to move towards, as our organization grows!
